COLD INJURIES FROM MILITARY SERVICE
Cold injuries can develop during military service in cold, wet, or damp conditions and do not always involve freezing temperatures.
Freezing cold injuries, such as frostbite, occur when body tissue freezes. Non-Freezing Cold Injuries (NFCIs) are different and are often caused by prolonged exposure to cold and damp environments. These injuries can result in lasting nerve damage, circulation problems, and long-term sensitivity to cold.
VALOUR can help veterans understand whether their cold injury may be linked to military service and provide support throughout the claims process. This may include guidance with medical assessments, documentation, and access to clear information from a veteran-led team.
